How a Medical Center Preserved 10 Years of IT Knowledge

A large medical center faced a critical transition: its only senior IT specialist, who had managed almost the entire infrastructure for more than 10 years, announced that he was leaving.

The audit revealed that the engineer had created dozens of custom solutions over the years that almost no one else in the company knew about:

2. Documented the entire environment
The day after the project was approved, our specialist began working alongside the internal engineer. The goal was not merely to understand the systems, but to capture everything required to support them safely.

- an inventory of servers and their roles;
- documentation for integrations and custom solutions;

3. Built a modernization roadmap
In parallel, we created a step-by-step infrastructure roadmap.
Priority tasks included:
- replacing business-critical in-house software;
- selecting a commercial appointment system and supporting the migration;
- documenting custom hardware solutions;
- bringing backup processes under control;
- verifying that systems could be restored quickly after a failure.
Planned improvements included upgrading Wi-Fi, moving to a modern corporate email platform, and optimizing the server environment to reduce energy and ongoing operating costs.
After the roadmap was approved, the work was divided into separate projects and started without interrupting the medical center’s operations.
4. Redesigned the support model
IT-Premium took responsibility for:

While the client searched for a new employee, our team also provided full user support. All requests moved into a single Service Desk system where they could be recorded, tracked, and used to expand the knowledge base.
